Claims we handle
Storm, wind and hail damage claims
Hail and wind damage is easy to miss from the ground and easy to underpay on paper. We find it, document it and make the insurance company account for all of it.
Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina all see severe thunderstorms, hail, straight-line winds, tornadoes and the remnants of tropical systems. After a big storm, carrier adjusters may be working dozens of roofs in the same area, and a quick inspection can turn a roof that needs replacing into an estimate for a few shingles.
Storm claims are where we see the widest gaps between the insurance company's first estimate and what the policy actually supports. The results below are the carriers' own numbers, before and after Paramount took over.
Paramount is a licensed public adjusting firm in Flowery Branch, Georgia, serving Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina. We represent the policyholder, never the insurance company, and the first review of your claim is free.
What we document on a storm claim
Hail bruising on shingles. Impacts that crack the mat under the granules often can't be seen from the ground but shorten the life of the roof.
Wind-lifted and creased shingles. Shingles that lifted and broke their seal can lie back down and still be damaged.
Soft metals. Dents in gutters, downspouts, vents, flashing and AC fins help show hail size, direction and date.
Siding, windows and screens. Cracked, chipped or dented siding, torn screens and damaged window wraps on every side of the house.
Interior leaks. Stained ceilings, wet insulation and damaged drywall from water that came in through the storm damage.
Other structures. Fences, sheds, detached garages and carports, which many policies cover separately.
Code-required items. Work your local building code requires when the roof is replaced, if your policy includes ordinance or law coverage.
Why storm claims get underpaid
Most storm underpayments come from scope, not price. The estimate leaves out slopes, elevations or items that were damaged, or it calls for a repair where the damage supports a replacement. A few missing line items can add up to tens of thousands of dollars on a roof.
We inspect the whole property, photograph and measure every slope and elevation, and build a line-by-line estimate. Then we present it to the carrier and meet their adjuster on site when needed, so the conversation is about the damage that is actually there.
Repair or replacement
A carrier will often approve spot repairs for a hail or wind claim. Whether a repair is reasonable depends on how widespread the damage is, the age and condition of the roof, and whether matching materials are available. We document those facts so the decision is based on evidence, not a quick look from a ladder.
What to do after a storm
Photograph the damage and the date, then protect the property from more damage with a tarp or temporary repair and keep the receipts. Most policies require you to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage.
Report the claim promptly. Insurers check storm reports against your date of loss, so it helps to know which storm caused the damage. Be cautious with anyone who asks you to sign paperwork at the door before your claim is settled, and read anything before you sign it.

FAQ
Storm, wind & hail claim questions
Don't see your question? Call us and we'll talk through your claim.
My insurer only approved a repair, not a new roof. Can you help?
Often, yes. We inspect every slope, document the full extent of the damage and present an estimate that reflects it. If the damage supports a replacement, we make that case to the carrier with photos and measurements.
The adjuster said the hail damage is only cosmetic. What does that mean?
Some policies, often for metal roofs, limit coverage for damage that changes how the roof looks but not how it works. Whether that applies depends on your policy's exact wording and on the damage itself, so we read both before telling you where you stand.
How long do I have to file a storm damage claim?
Your policy sets the deadline. Many policies require prompt notice and some set a time limit for claims after a storm, so report the damage as soon as you can and call us if you're unsure.
Do I need a roofer before I call a public adjuster?
No. We inspect and document the damage ourselves and work for you, not for a contractor. You choose who does the repairs.
